Synopsis
Claire
Nixon is a twenty-year-old college dropout with a secret.
To
Claire, Adam Parker is just another flirty customer at the cafe, until a chance
encounter and seemingly innocent comment spurs a bet between them. The bet is
simple: If Adam can get Claire to reveal the secret that made her drop out of
college, she has to re-enroll. If he doesn’t succeed, she gets to keep her
secret and he has to stop stalking her at the cafe.
Claire
thinks she has this one in the bag. She’s perfected the art of forgetting her
past. But she isn’t prepared for Adam’s relentless pursuit or for him to share
his own secrets. And she’s definitely not prepared for her rock star ex, and
her secret, to come banging down her door one year later.
Review
Cassia
Leo you never disappoint!
I was
expecting a good story, because I read all Cassia's other books and she
accomplished something no other author ever did for me, so I never doubt it,
going in to Relentless that I would like it. But...
Oh God
that was not a good story, not at all, that was an honest AMAZING one.
Claire and Adam
were troubled
from the beginning! And from day one, when they meet, they captured me and
never let me go.
Adam was the classic good
boy, sweet, with the right amount of cockiness, fun and wits since he saved her
from bald guy :) loved that scene, her one and only Jack Dawson ( swoon ). But looks are not what they
seem and the good boy had some secrets up his sleeve. And let me just say they
were pretty good ones, no wonder he wanted a clean slave and some good girl
next to him ;)
Claire was
the sweetheart with a secret that (almost) no one knew. I loved her, since line
one when we get her background. The girl had some serious issues to attend,
that is until she found her Jack Dawson and
just lost it ( by it I mean the clean
facade that she tried to maintain for months after the :O moment we find out
about )
I loved
every single one of their dates and attempts ( at least on her behalf ) to
resist each other ( I must say she failed miserable and I had a lot of fun
seeing her squirm ). The sexual
tension between them was eating me alive, I mean come on girl, I would have
jumped his bones and think about the consequences later :P
But
with her past I understood her, even do she got me crazy when he was spilling his
secrets out and giving his soul to
her and she just kept backing down and not tell him anything. Even when he just
told her we would care about the bet, that he just wanted her to be alright and
trust, he was going to be there for her.
I mean
come on, OK
the guy has issues, we all do, but he was there for you, he gave
himself to you completely and even then, nothing!!! Oh I was mad ( which means I
loved every single moment of that tension, I know I need to see a shrink :P )
And
then came the :O
moments, and oh boy they just left me :O!!!
That was not at all what I expected,
I mean I had that thought at the beginning of the book, but the author being
the bad girl she is, led me in a different direction, and I just drop it. I
never thought about that being the secret again trough the book.
And
then,
BBBUUUMMM!!!! Everything happens at the same time ( this is where Cassia once again challenges
my small heart ), and I don't know what to think anymore. I didn't judge
her I just didn't know what to do in her place.
You
have the guy you loved and made you heal after our crappy years on foster care,
on one side. On the other you have the guy you love and that makes you feel
like you don't have to be someone else.
The guy
that does everything for you, waited for you and who you helped heal.
What to do?! What to think about that?!
She
keeps it together long enough to talk to Adam, and oh boy, what a moment. I
ached for both of them and my heart was squeezing in my chest. But I loved that
scene :) It was PERFECT!
Of
course Miss Leo had to give me a last scare and make me squirm again. And
besides that once again curse Claire for that reaction. Poor Adam :( I would
make him better ( Here I go again, another boyfriend to the long list I already
have )
P.S.
It was warned a million times that this reviewer isn't in her right mind! Please try to understand!
See you
next week ;)
